Wild Ling Zhi - Immune System Protector

Wild Ling Zhi - Immune System Protector, the legendary herb of ancient Chinese emperors and high priests. Also known as Ganoderma lucidum, Ling Zhi is first referenced in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, China's oldest herbal resource written in the Han dynasty. It described Ling Zhi as the most important herb of all.

An essential part of traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, this mushroom-like herb is a slow-growing plant, similar to ginseng, that absorbs nature's energy and essence as it develops. Some Ling Zhi has been documented for hundreds of years or longer. Even today, this rarest of herbs is prized in China and throughout Asia for aiding longevity.

Unlike cultivated Ling Zhi products, AHT's Wild Ling Zhi - Immune System Protector is vastly different. It contains only Wild Ling Zhi, so you receive its maximum healing properties. A Little Background on an Extraordinary Herb …

Common name: Ganoderma, Reishi Mushroom, Ling Zhi

Traditional Chinese Medicine ranks Ling Zhi as the number one herb in its vast apothecary of hundreds of species of roots, grasses, plant parts, woods, furs, animals and stones. It is the cornerstone of TCM.

The cultivation of Ling Zhi, or Ganoderma lucidum, started as far back more than two thousand years ago. Presently, it is harvested at the rate of about 3,000 tons a year. Demand for this unique herb is strong throughout the Far East where its special properties have been recognized and prized for millennia. Now Western and Eastern health-care professionals are discovering it extraordinary properties.

Ling Zhi is mainly found and/or cultivated in about 10 regions of China.  Wild Ling Zhi is sourced by only a few knowledgeable suppliers. More typically, cultivated Ling Zhi or Ganoderma is planted in logs or vinyl bags. The vinyl bags method is preferred in regions producing large volumes (1,000 tons annually). Largely consumed domestically, Ling Zhi is occasionally exported to other countries. As interest increases, so will demand. Its beneficial effects have been acknowledged by medical experts in China, and now Western researchers in the US. It is used in the Far East as a health-maintenance product and can be consumed as it is, in capsule, powder, or as a tea or in alcohol.

A New Study

Ling Zhi has been used to treat and prevent immune disorders including allergy in traditional Chinese medical practice. It is now being studied by a major prestigious East Coast medical school as a major component in anti-asthma and food allergy herbal formulas. T lymphocytes play a central role in many immune disorders. To explore the mechanisms of actions of Ling Zhi on allergic disorders, this study compares the effects of Ling Zhi to dexamethasone (one of the most potent corticosteroids) on allergen-primed and normal T cells in vitro. The study will describe how the immunomodulatory effect of Ling Zhi on T cells is different from dexamethasone’s overall suppression of all lymphocytes. The conclusion: immunomodulatory actions of Ling Zhi should benefit patients with allergy and immune suppression.

Ganoderma Supplementation in Cancer Management

Ling Zhi or Ganoderma is also being recognized as a possible supplement in cancer management. While used as popular medicine since ancient times, it is now a health food frequently promoted as a cancer cure (though this claim requires more scientific research). It is now well-established from in vitro and animal studies that the polyshaccharide fraction of Ganoderma is largely responsible for its anti-tumor efficacy. Although there are as yet no controlled clinical trials in humans for Ganoderma against cancer to date, indications for its supplemental use can be indirectly supported with clinical trial data from comparable fungal polysaccharides because of a common final pathway of action mediated via beta-glucan receptor. Based on such indirect data, indications for Ganoderma use in cancer include supplementation a.) to reduce side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy, b.) to prolong survival and minimize metastasis, c.) to improve quality of life, and d.) to prevent occurrence or recurrence. Researchers say that although the cure of any cancer with Ling Zhi alone is unlikely, it is probably beneficial under defined circumstances in most cases of malignancy.
